Hi The Historian--
I had been meaning to phone you a few days ago - wanted to find out how you were going after I got P's email saying you had had a caesarian (but didn't want to call too soon, as I thought you would still be recovering!). Then I came down with a bad case of tonsillitis, so I haven't been out of bed for 3 days, let alone doing much talking!
I was sorry to hear that you didn't get the birth experience you had hoped for, but it is good that you got to experience labour for a while, and even better to hear that your MasterH is doing well now after getting so sick. Sounds like you have all had a very tough beginning - I hope that everything just gets better from now on! Really glad to hear that breastfeeding has been easy for you. I have been needing quite a lot of help with it - had some very painful days after difficulties attaching him. Thankfully I have had two full days in the Breastfeeding Clinic at [the hospital] and we finally seem to be getting very comfortable with it now.
Regarding your choice of name... we can't fault you on your good taste, can we? :) It's funny - when we chose BallFiend for our baby, we didn't know of any other [name], and couldn't even think of any famous [name] except for [an actor]. Then as soon as I started telling people his name, we have had several people say that they know of one or two other [name] who have been born recently!
I just saw JC's email announcing the birth of her baby - no name given... what are the odds that she will call her boy [name] too!
Anyway, I must go and feed our ravenous little monster now (he is nearly 4 kg now!! Up from 3.54kg at birth). I will give you a call in the next day or so, once my sore throat clears up and I am able to talk more easily.
Stay rested and well!
with love,
Stompy
